Statistical Study on the Electrophoretic Patterns of Serum Protein. in the Patients with Hepatitis

Abstract
As it is well known that albumin is produced in the hepatic cells and the globulin, especially gamma-globulin, is produced in the reticuloendothelial system.
When liver is damaged, albumin is decreased and the globulin is relatively increased, and the A/G ratio reversed.
In order to observe the change in the electrophoretic patterns of the protein in the parench-ymal damage of the liver, the authors collected 40 samples from normal control and 52 samples from hepatitis cases confirmed by clinical data, enzymatic liver function test, serology and liver needle biopsy.
The followings were ensued as results;
1. Serum level (g/100ml) of total protein in hepatitis group was not significantly changed. (p2. Serum levels (g/100m1) of albumin, alpha 1, alpha 2 and beta globulin were significantly decreased in the hepatitis group. (p<0.005)
3. Serum level (g/100ml) of gamma-globulin was significantly increased in the hepatitis group. (p<0.005)
4. Although the change in the electrophoretic patterns of the serum protein were significant in the hepatitis group, the significance of diagnostic value was not great. (less than 62%).
